Accessing Mail with SSH Secure Client

Please note: SSH Secure Shell can be downloaded from the following site:

https://sitelicense.arizona.edu/ssh/ssh.shtml

From the SSH Secure Shell Client:

• Click on Quick Connect
• Host Name: eller.arizona.edu
• User Name: your eller id
• Click Connect
• Enter your password and you are connected.
• The first time you log in, you will be prompted to change your password.

After you have successfully reached the system prompt, you can:

• Type in Pine to enter the Pine mail system.

While unpopular, Pine is very functional as a text based mail system. The menus are located at the bottom of the screen and are activated using the keyboard, not the mouse.

Type in Menu to display the Eller menu, where some of the more common tasks are grouped such as:

• Mail: Electronic Mail (Pine)
• Info Deli: Eller Info, College, Faculty, UseNet, Sabio, etc.
• File: Edit and manage your files
• Misc: Forward, Vacation, Home Page, Password, Signature
• Labs: Labs
• Messages: System of Network Downtime messages
• Comments: Submit comments or suggestions

Setting your mail to forward automatically to personal accounts:

• Type in Menu
• Select Misc
• Select Forward
• Select "set forward"
• Type in the e-mail address where you want your mail sent.
• Click control o and hit return when you are prompted for a filename (.forward is correct)
• Click control x to exit
