Instructions for Transferring Files between U.Arizona and Eller.Arizona
using FTP
Many people at the Eller college also have computer accounts on
the CCIT U.Arizona Cluster. Sometimes these users are required to
use both Eller and U.Arizona accounts to do research projects. They
may also need to copy files from one computer to another. To do
this one uses Secure File Transfer Client.
The instructions for transferring files from U.Arizona to Eller.Arizona
are:
- Open a Secure File Transfer client.
- Do a Quick Connect, enter the host name Eller.arizona.edu and
log onto your Eller account.
- Open a second Secure File Transfer.
- Do a Quick Connect, enter the host name shell.u.arizona.edu
and log onto your University account.
- You may now select the file you wish to move and do a drag/drop.
You may transfer files from either direction with one connection
using this method.
Downloading and Uploading Using FTP in Secure Shell Client
FTP is software used to transfer files from one computer to another.
This document describes the steps used to transfer files from a
user's mainframe account to a PC or vice versa using WinQVT.
The steps needed to transfer files between a user's PC and Eller.Arizona
or any other mainframe computer using WinQVT are:
- Open a Secure File Transfer client.
- Do a Quick Connect, enter the host name Eller.arizona.edu and
log onto your Eller account.
- Choose a file on the remote computer and select the download
arrow to download.this file to your PC.
- Select the location for the download on the screen that just
opened.
- Your file has been transferred to the local PC. You may upload
to the remote server by simply selecting the upload arrow in step
3.
